Here I am tonight, sitting quietly in my chair, watching the kittens play… contemplating. ♥️

Being a cat breeder isn’t just a hobby. It’s a life where your heart never really gets to rest.

Everything starts long before any kittens are even here. The planning, the thoughts, the quiet dreaming. You weigh every detail, choose a stud carefully, hoping this combination will bring something truly special. Not just in looks, but in health, temperament, and that spark of life.

When the queen is mated, the waiting begins. A long wait filled with both hope and worry. You watch closely, trying to read every small change, hoping everything will go as it should.

Then the day comes. Joy mixed with fear. Because you know how quickly things can change. You sit there for hours, awake, helping, watching, hoping everything goes well.

The first week is constant alert. Light sleep, listening for every sound. Making sure everyone nurses, that no one is left behind. You supplement, weigh, and worry. Exhausted, but unable to step away. Because they depend on you completely.

Time passes. They grow, open their eyes, start exploring. Little personalities begin to shine. Each one finding a place in your heart in a way that’s hard to explain.

And then comes the day you never really want.

The day they leave.

You pack their things, kiss their heads a little extra, hold on just a moment longer. You hand them over to people you choose to trust, placing a piece of your heart into someone else’s life.

Then comes the silence.

And you wait…

For that first message: “We’re home.”

Those words mean everything. And even when they’re gone, you never really let them go.

Being a breeder means giving away pieces of your heart, over and over again.

And still… you do it again.

Because the love for them is bigger than everything. ♥️
